DECALOGUE OF ENTESA PER MALLORCA
The political model of Entesa includes many of the aspects necessary to create a modern society and country. Some of the key ideas are as follows:
Nationalism: Nationalism is the will to be what we are. We are a language, a culture, a history, a people with its rights; we are institutions and a social philosophy, that is to say, we are a nation. Mallorca will only be a strong nation if it preserves its way of being, its essence and its self-determination as a country and is able to look to the future without loosing its roots.
Economical progress: The first thing a country needs in order to advance is a progressive ideology, not an out-of-date ideology with out-of-date intellectual methods. Progress in the country means progress in all areas: economical growth based on sustainable criteria, investment inside and outside the country and support for all innovations in favor of a modern society with an international spirit.
Social welfare: Development and technical progress make no sense if they are not at the service of people. The objective of social welfare must be based on two aspects: the services to be offered to the population (sanity, culture, education, sport, leisure …) and the attention to be paid to some sectors with special necessities.
Tourism: Tourism is the motor of our economy and it involves a great proportion of the Mallorcan society. We can not afford to stand before our visitors as enemies; on the contrary, they must be our allies if we want to survive as a people.
Education, language and culture: Language can be a powerful instrument to spread human values, historical traditions and our way of being. In addition to the Mallorcan language, it is important that popular culture maintains traditional elements of mallorquinism. Education is essential for our future progress
Demography and immigration: The Mallorcan people can be proud that our island is a country where people enjoy living. Anyone who lives and works here in Mallorca should be able to feel that he is a Mallorcan. That is to say, the condition of being “Mallorcan” is not in your blood or through your past, but in the present and the future, through your own decision and contributions to community life.
Municipality and urban-rural balance: For a nation a careful balance between rural and urban must be maintained in order to ensure not just an esthetic measure but an ethic one. Mallorca needs to sustain the richness of its villages to be alive. Villages must be defended, but we must also take advantage of what a big city such as Palma can provide.
Environment and sustainability: We must carry on a real and workable policy of sustainable management of the environment, as a different way of producing and consuming, living and working. From the administration and institutions we must encourage a new life style based on responsible consumption, reduction of waste production and a self-limited usage of our natural resources, especially water.
Civil society and associations: We must strongly defend civil society for the part that personal effort plays: civil society means initiative, personal assistance, determination and seriousness. A country without generosity, spirit of service, availability and effort, is condemned. Civil society has been and is a key component for Mallorca, because of the lack of political and institutional instruments our nation has suffered.
Youth: The younger generations are the future of this country. They are not only a means to guarantee our demographic continuity but they are also the population sector that will shape the future of our people. We need an educated youth in order to have a future of progress and a willingness to make our nation stronger.
